About Burning Raven

BurningRaven.com is all about Fire Performance, The Circus,  the joy that burning and expressive movement can bring.

I built this site first and foremost to promote my skills as a fire performer to outer troupes and circus, and also to promote the art of POI.  A bit of history for those who don’t know what POI is (fire spinning) it comes from a New Zealand tradition practiced to keep people both mentally agile and physically fit.  POI works the mind in both the left and right sides, and works all the joints and muscles in the body.   It teaches harmony in movement and stillness in thought.

In its most basic essence, POI is a weight attached to a line that, when spun, makes an array of hypnotic circles in the air.  While POI does not have to be lit on fire to be enjoyed, when it is burning, it is thrilling to see, mesmerizing to watch, and spell bounding to hear!  Countless times I have seen the look of wonderment in the faces of audiences, shock in the eyes of some, and a new spark of creativity in others.

Fire Circles - it stills my mind to be in the center

I have been spinning and eating fire for a number of years now, and everyday I learn a new way to move, a new way to think in harmony with my body and mind, and find a deeper stillness for my burning soul.  The essence of fire is my CHI.  I highly recommend this activity for anyone young or old, and highly recommend experiencing a fire performance live, in-person.

Please view my photos section (under the “about > Photos” tab) for some still shots of POI in action, for some video footage look under under the “about > videos”.  Please contact me if you wish to book a performance for your party or to request a class.  I’d love to hear from you.

Best Regards,
